June 16, 2014 - 3:00 pm. I have a friend, wanting to trade me his Dan Wesson 357. He can't seem to find the model number. But believes it to be a 15-V8. I have attached a couple pics he sent me. The barrel says Dan Wesson arms 357 magnum CTG and the frame Dan Wesson arms monsoon mass USA and the serial number 151827. This is all he has is the Gun.An M&P (Military and Police) was "pre-Model 10". I think Smith started "Model" numbers around 1957 or 1958. What had been the M&P revolver became Model 10. If your revolver is a Model 10, it will say so where the yoke swings out from the frame. The serial number is on the bottom of the grip. You might want to check and make sure the ejector rod is screwed in all the way, it can back out a turn or two and sometimes cause the gun to lock up.
