I have a Sony STR-DH790 receiver and a Sony XBR-85X81CH TV. I have 8K capable HDMI w/ ethernet cables rated for 48Gbps. When I do direct connect from the Apple TV to the TV, I can get Dolby Vision at 4K 60hz. When I run the Apple TV passthru through the receiver to the TV, the best video I can get is 4K SDR 60hz.Sony STR-DH790 7.2-Ch AV Receiver. (8 ohm speakers will measure as 6.5-7.5 ohms on a meter anyway) and I have been up to 54-57DB out of 60DB for hours and the receiver stayed room temperature. I wish companies would stop misleading us with one channel driven at 1khz ratings of 1000 watts (pioneer) The dynamic volume and dynamic EQ sucks. The Sony was so much easier to make sound more pleasing immediately. The Denon room correction was very slow to respond to commands when setting up and then the end result sounded worse than the Sony set up manually. 4K@60Hz is enough for me. I don't plan on using neither 8K, nor 120Hz anytime soon. Monaural and multi-channel audio signals are output after being converted into a 2-channel signal.
